 Here at Beginners Electric Guitarwe know our instruments. Having been guitarists ourselves for over 15 years we feel qualified that we know what we are talking about when comes to them. So, when our friends recently asked us to recommend a great guitar package for their son who was a huge fan of rock n roll we told them all about the Epiphone electric guitar pack.

As we’ve mentioned here before, Epiphone is basically the arm of Gibson that manufacturers more accessible, affordable copies of Gibson’s most enduring models, perhaps the most famous of which being the Les Paul.
The Les Paul is of course the classic guitar that was made by Gibsonsome 60 years ago in collaboration with the immensely popular and undeinabaly pioneering guitarist of the same name. The instrument has gone on to become iconic in music and is indelibly associated with many of the world’s greatest musicians including Slash (Guns N Roses), Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), Pete Townshend (The Who), Joe Perry (Aerosmith) and countless others.

For most us however, a genuine Gibson Les Paulwill be just out of reach and maybe a little inappropriate for a beginner so an Epiphone model is therefore a great choice. You’ll be getting all of the wonderful looks of the classic Les Paul shape, along with the ability to match some of its characteristic tones closely enough at this level.

Epiphone Special-II Les Paul Performance Pack
The Epiphone Special-II Les Paul Performance Pack in Vintage Sunburst is just great because it comes with an awesome guitar and all the things that you are going to need to strap it on, plug it in and start busting out some great rock riffs of your heroes of of your own.
The mahogany body will go some way to helping you create some of that marvellous tone and sustain that Gibsons are noted for and the Epiphone 700T Humbuckers are just great for getting some crunch out of the guitar. This is a real workhorse that plays and sounds just great for its modest price.
Included in the package is a great little 15W Studio 15R mp with 8″ speaker, a gigbag, a strap, a guitar lead, a pitchpipe for tuning, picks for playing and an instructional DVD to get you up to scratch on all the need-to-know essentials. Epiphone Flying Veewee Rave Rig
For the smaller or younger budding little rockstar there is the cool little Epiphone Flying Veewee. The Veewee is based on another classic and groundbreaking Gibson guitar, the Gibson Flying V, but is exactly half the size of of a normal instrument. 
As well as being better and easier to play for smaller proportioned guitarists it is also great as it is easily portable meaning they can take it to school, on vacation or to Grandma’s house on the weekend.
It has a lightweight basswood body attached to a rosewood neck and a single Humbucker Classic pickup controlled by a single volume control knob.
As well as the guitar itself, the other items included in the pack are an Epiphone mini-amp powered by a 9V battery, a guitar strap, a guitar lead, a carrying bag and some operating instructions.

In addition to the Veewee above, the Les Paul Pee Wee is also available. It comes with the same equipment and embodies much of the same characteristics and specifications of the Veewee but is of course modeled on the Les Paul as opposed to the Flying V.
Even if you’re not a child beginner guitarist this is still a great little bit of kit. If you’re an adult you can sling it under your arm and head off to the park or beach to practice finger exercises or throw a few chords around while you’re waiting your car to be washed….or whatever!
